Levelled - Emotional Creatures: Part 3

Update From Steve

I'm happy and excited to announce that I’ve finally finished the project I’ve been working on for five long years now. I will be tidying up and mastering it thoroughly on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th with Rob Aubrey at Aubitt studio Southampton.

Foolishly perhaps I've been working very, very hard on a 12 track two parter called Tinsel & Tears (Part 1). That one certainly holds some of my best songwriting to date.

A rough demo from that is below for a sample listen.

There is a Tinsel & Tears (Part 2) album in my computer now but it's early days on that one

The Moonwater album has knocked the crap out of me mentally with it’s fine detail and forty three demo mixes to get it as good as I possible can.

I didn’t quite manage to shoehorn in as many previous guests as I would’ve liked to but it is without doubt the best piece of music I've ever made.

The end result is slightly mind bending and transportive. A good set of Headphones and preferably + 35 minutes of peace and quiet is required to get the full effect.

I did it on my own thus far and have spent countless hours and days on it.

I’m in Aubitt Studios on the 24th and 25th to master Moonwater and then begin to work on Tinsel & Tears (Part 1)

Moonwater features samples of Tony Levin’s Chapman Stick Bass from my Crimes & Reasons album, Nick D’Virgilio’s drums from the track 'Moth To Flame' also from Crimes & Reasons, Gary Chandler’s clean cutty guitar from the Emotional Creatures Part 1 track ‘Gone', Geoff Lea's guitar from Levelled ‘Psalm 2.0 and Malice In Plunderland sound effects from ’To mock A Killingbird’ from Malice. Paul Cook of IQ from the opening track 'Here They Come' from Emotional Creatures Part 1 with his military snare. My vocals from 'Moth To Flame' from Crimes, 'Well Outta That' from Emo 1, 'Monkey Business' from Levelled, ‘Goodbye’ from Emo 1, the end Conga riff from 'They Are Flesh' from Island Of The Imbeciles along with the Korg Ms 2000 sequencer sounds and Piano from the same track all blended together with the Moog bass pedals and monkey sound FX, and, countless other sound effects from all seven albums ending with the dawn chorus from ‘Goodbye'. From Emotional Creatures 1.

New speech samples from Donald Trump, Elon Musk.

There are many many more but, I don’t want to labour over listing them all. For anyone who knows my albums well, it will be fun to place and recognise them.

I hope to release Moonwater on Sept 6th 2025.

So have a listen to this rough demo of Tinsel & Tears, enjoy!

FURTHER UPDATE (27.02.25)

I have decided  and, have been advised to work on my Tinsel & Tears (Part 1) album before doing my big 32 minute track Moonwater.

Moonwater is pretty out there and is still in my mind, the best bit of music I’ll ever make, however Tinsel & Tears(Part 1) is a much easier listen with shorter songs and is, much more typically me.

It does have some of my best songwriting on it as I’ve said so, I feel it’s the right decision.
Here is one more demo from Tinsel & Tears (Part 1)

Things change quickly.
As ever,
